Background: Having begun piano lessons at age 6, and violin at age 8, Laurie Driskill enjoys a diverse career as a performer and teacher in the Los Angeles area. A graduate of the Thornton School of Music at USC, she holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance, where she also studied viola and won the String Chamber Music award. She has performed in orchestras all over Southern California, including the Pacific Symphony, the Long Beach and Santa Barbara Symphonies. She was also employed by the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles as a regular chamber musician, has recorded for numerous film and television projects, and has toured with John Tesh and others in the US and abroad. She has been heard on classical radio with a quartet and was a soloist with the Beach Cities Symphony.
Laurie was the founding music teacher at Ambassador High School, has directed chamber music seminars, and was concertmaster of the Torrance and Antelope Valley Symphonies. With pedagogy training, including the Suzuki method, Laurie is a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of Southern California.
